I know a de-icer will keep the water unfrozen in the bucket, but for the pipes... not so much. A pipe heating cable (for PVC) can be installed to the pipe to keep water from freezing in it, and horizontal nipples should be used as they don't hold water in them like vertical nipples do, so they're less susceptible to freezing... and keeps wattles from getting wet. What do you all suggest for a waterer? I have some Black Penedesenca roosters ( they have really long wattles). The wattles are getting wet when they are drinking and then are freezing. Do you know if a de-icer placed in a 5 gallon bucket will be enough to keep about 5 feet of hose and the pvc pipe with water nipples in it unfrozen? I live in Missouri so we have varying temps. The low tomorrow is suppose to be 9 degrees fahrenheit. Thanks ahead of time for your suggestions.
Dawww...
