Yes. No secret. She has a nest box out of reach of the other hens and when she has laid about a dozen eggs she'll go broody. I leave the eggs in the nest box undisturbed. This will be her third clutch since October. All my hens will do the same if their eggs are left or replaced with dummy eggs one at a time/one a day.. I have repeated this process over and over this summer, fall and winter with nine different hens.
