@Sally Sunshine I took the foot pad and straw splint off the chick. He? immediately it was obvious that it is not straightening he tucked right up and curled his toes. I tried just putting him back like that and a couple pecked him an a third grabbed the leg and towed him by it. I put the "shoe" back on and paper taped over the leg to protect it from the vicious Chickies. I don't know what else to do.
I hope you have had a good day.
awww the poor thing, I put the tolbunt polish down, a free chick but an expensive chick but not much of a life on her belly. I am not sure what to tell you. I would talk to kat and see if there is something you can dry if your up to surgery.

Without any other indicators, I'm guessing it's a she. The spot sits back on it's head, and the main spot isn't clearly defined. It also spreads out across the back of the head and washes down the neck. Compare the legs of it's siblings and make comparisons. Darker markings on the front of the legs and toes indicates female. You'll know for sure at 2 weeks when they start feathering out. If barred feathers start appearing on it's shoulders, it's a male. If female, most feathers will remain mostly black.

Orloffs, Orloff/EE and Orloff/Legbar. One of my Orloff girls hasn't laid in the last 5 days, so I pulled 3 of her eggs out of the fridge, along with another Orloff/Legbar just because it was there.

Making sure everything works right before the Easter HAL - it's a test run.

The biggest I've ever seen was a BA rooster that I mistook for a Jersey Giant. I thought it was huge, but it wasn't 30" tall at the eyes, either!!!

You see the pic on here a week or so ago of the totally naked hen running around? Maybe you'd end up with a bunch just like her.

I saw it, and it was freaking hideous!!! Was kind of neat the way it was flying at that roo, though!!!
