I hope everyone is having a great day!!!

I almost feel like a stranger coming on here after all this time away. I haven't had much to report since I'm not incubating and/or hatching, and I've been really busy lately. I HAVE to build a growout pen and coop this weekend... the brooder is growing smaller in a hurry (fat chicks)!!! I also need to get started on another (larger) coop and breeding pens for my next set of birds. I'll give updates as they happen... I promise! In the meantime, I'll have plenty to do. Probably best I'm staying tied up so I'm not filling the thread with goobledygook... but one of the days... I'm gonna chew through the ropes and run amok once again!!!

Cheese came out of the cheese press last night, drying now, will be waxed tomorrow if dry enough:



Dumbledore got new digs yesterday - a HUGE dog crate in a cooler mud room. He is starting to feather back in, and he needs to not be so acclimated to room temp (esp. since it's warmer than normal because of the incubators). After he goes back out I may use this behemoth as a brooder...

Shipped eggs should arrive today (I hope!!!). I've got tons of chores to do (inside and outside), plus work, so gotta run. Don't do anything I wouldn't do!

I've got some pics, but I'm still changing things. I just bought a $200 temperature controller. The build has now cost me as much as just buying a new Sportsman (but where's the fun in that?). At least it holds twice as many eggs.

Next I need to make a new hatcher, my current one maxes out at about 100 eggs and the temps are not as well controlled as I would like.

I will check out the links. I have a bunch of thermometers and mostly they agree (except the Brinsea that seems to just pick a random number and alternate between that and an error message).

Some future project might be to add a computerized monitoring of temp and humidity, where it would log all the values and give me a graph over time for each incubator, published on a web page, with alerts for any problems sent as texts to my phone. I can dream this stuff up much faster than I can implement it.

Wow that would be a neat idea , then us worry warts like me might actually sleep. Most I lost around lock down due to mal positioned but we got that fixed by turning the egg turner off at day 14 that dropped it from 9/10 eggs failing to hatch due to mal position down to 1/10
