Sounds 'bout right!  Maybe you can talk DH into taking turns so your eyes don't get all blurry :p

How many she setting on this time?

Nah, since I don't work, he can use it until he leaves for work, then it's all mine :)

My broody turkey is only sitting on 4 eggs. I'm letting her try it out since she's a first timer. She's going to be confused I think once they start hatching tonight or tomorrow. She's only been broody for maybe 2 weeks lol. I gave her some eggs that were started in the bator.

I'm moving all my chicks from last week's hatch out to the big garage brooder with the older chicks. They may be smaller but they way outnumber the others out there lol. Maybe my silkie chicks will mother them all like they did the last chicks and poults :)

I hope she doesn't get all grumpy like my first & only broody hen did last year; I imagine an angry peck from a turkey could hurt a bunch.

Lucky for me, she's my cuddle hen. She only gets a little agitated when I check her eggs and move her to check for extras. I bet if anyone else messed with her though, she'd really let them have it lol.

As a matter of fact, I was surprised that Tucker, having never even seen me before, didn't have any reaction when I reached out to pet him.

The one broody EE that I had was so mellow. We gave her some shipped eggs (at the time my silkies weren't laying). She had no trouble with us checking on them. Unfortunately, she kicked them all out of the nest one night and tried sitting on them outside the nest, but they didn't make it.

Actually, none of my chickens care if we take the eggs out from under them - they share the same boxes, so we'll get 4 or 5 eggs out, while one of the other hens is laying hers.

I've got 5 hens, and they all want to lay in one nest; save the other one to poop in!

danged "5" key sticks

My girls lay in both nest boxes. I don't think they have a preference one way or the other.
I never claimed to have the smartest chickens in the world. I got home yesterday to find the 6 of them looking like they'd been playing under a sprinkler all day, and it was a good bit cooler here than it was where I'd just come from

My update:
- 104 chicks total hatched last weekend. Put 101 eggs into lockdown for this weekend.
- changed out one heating element in the newly built cabinet incubator (trying a PTC heater for improved safety)
- ordered a new Dickey incubator for a hatcher
I got a PTC to add to my cabinet I need to install in the next couple days. I'm still going to wire it to be controlled by the thermostat. I didn't want to do the math nor install another DC power supply.

Mine are usually like wild banshees. Scare the heck out of me.

I've got 13 hens, 4 nest boxes, they use the back 3. They will sometimes sit in the 4th, waiting for the more dominant hens to leave, then will move over to the one they want. The bar in front lets them walk from box to box.
