Never heard that before and never had a problem either. I candle everyday from day 3 to lock down. Mostly it's for the 20 mins of cooling time. I've had awesome hatches since I started doing this. In my last 2 hatches I only lost 2 eggs and that was because they were clear. Everything else hatched.

Then they didn't actually come from MPC. Probably Meyer since that's who they seem to do the most drop ships from.
Is there a reason you candle everyday besides the 20 min cooling time? Not sure who MPC had send the eggs actually.

Quote: For one, it keeps me from worrying over them too much since I know how they're doing from day to day. Where they're growth is and is supposed to be and air cell size. It's also for the 20 mins of cooling they would get if a hen were brooding them. I never go over that mark. On larger batches I alternate which side get's candled so I do go over my time limit.

The only thing I know for a fact is they drop ship chicks. Not a crime by any means, but it's really confusing.

I've never had a problem with shipped eggs, 'cause I won't buy them

If I can't buy them locally, or within driving distance, I'll do without. Too many USPS horror stories for me! That's why I keep a rooster around; no shipping required. Of course I'm only breeding for replacements, not for sale.
HAHA. Right. I have people buying hatchings all the time. I will not ship them. They have to come and get them.

Morning everyone, don't think I'll get caught upon back posts no coffee yet lol, but hope everyone is good

due to have a plumbing emergency in the middle of the night

Yes it is very confusing. They said that they are using two different new suppliers now but no clue who they are. Would be nice to be able to go to the source. Just checked Meyer and didn't see Doms listed actually.

I feel your pain. I put water in the new upstairs tub last night and it drained down and out the heat vevt into the downstairs bathroom. Another mess to deal with.

I'm not being mean I promise. Cooling time is not necessary. Hens do it because they actually do need to eat, drink crap etc. In a controlled environment, at the correct temperature no need for cooling.

And for worrying. Why worry. As long as the temp and humidity is correct no need to worry. Whats going to hatch is going to hatch. Nothing you can do if there infertile or blood ring. Too late for all that. That's a lessen learned for next batch.
