This has been going on for a while, so I think we need to put him down. That also means that I need to get a new dog. You guys have any recommendations for the best dog with the chickens?
So sorry, I know exactly how you feel :( my very first chicks were murdered by my Siberian husky. We had them for 2 weeks and they were so bonded with us that it was amazing. 5 minutes alone and she broke into our, what we thought was secure brooder. Every one of them was dead. My terrier mix helped kill them because she was doing it. To this day, all our chicks are brooded in our bedroom for the first week or two, then moved to a big garage brooder. Our husky has to be supervised and leashed 100% of the time that she is outside when the chickens are out. The terrier competely ignores all the chickens now though you can see him twitch a little if a little chick flutters around him. Both of them are old (11 and 12). Our third dog is a young English Bulldog x rottie mix. She's so gentle and trustable with the flock. Half the time, if we can't find her, we look for the birds lol. But, then again, she thinks they're walking "treat" dispensers bleh!
Eekkk I'm in the ER with possible appendix issues I'm so worried about my eggs. :-(will they be OK if they don't get turned?
Oh no! Please feel better soon!
I tell you, those things catch them and will reduce numbers if you keep them up... we had issues living aside the farm until they got cats in, we did make a difference! you can have so many in there at one shot its unreal!!

Quote: So sorry... I know that they ( fluoroquinolones ) can cause some serious problems in young dogs, so perhaps the same is true in people?

Here is an example of how well it can work:

My my first ever sinus infection. Chick weight - 800 grams. Gave 0.16ml of 10% Baytril IM.

Have my first URI in a peachick. Here it is at 9 am:

Four hours later:

Here he is 8 hours later. Note that I have not wiped his face.

28 hours later - still some swelling that is hard to see in pictures and some clear drainage from nostril. Up five grams, which is not enough, but it's better than a loss.

Chick was 100% after just two shots, but gave two more per the recommendation of a vet.
