Good luck!!! I am in the middle of my first hatch. Based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews here, I went with the hovabator too. I had mostly shipped eggs, from two different sources...one (Papa's Poultry @Papa Brooder was incredible, the other- coming all the way from CT, a total disaster (and extremely expensive!))... If they weren't broken, all eggs had detached air cells and some extremely saddled... Then, I got super lucky and discovered@Jessimom lives 2 miles from me! She generously gave me 6 silkie eggs (5 to lockdown- 3 have already hatched!). In total, 28 went to lockdown. It is just now Day 20.5 and 10 are hatched, 5 more pipped and one zipping. The one shown here, zipping, is a Bielefelder whose shell I cracked (and repaired with candle wax) 2 weeks ago!!! We are very pleased with this bator and even more grateful for all the advice here!!! Thank you! @Jessimom @Sally Sunshine

Congrats! keep us updated! are you planing on selling these or are you starting a flock?

Thank you! We are selling most...keeping 3-5 to add to our flock. The first chick out was a Crested Cream Legbar- girl. My 4 year old was with me when she came, so, selling her would prove challenging- looks like "Grace" (everything Samantha has is named Grace right now) will be joining her CCL 'sisters', French Fry and Evelyn, one day in the coop...they are about 6 months old now.

Sounds exciting!

Not personally, they seem a waste of feed and time for me. Not big enough to warrant eating and while the eggs are yummy I can't really justify tiny eggs. I'd rather pay for eggs when I need them than raise birds I'll never eat for tiny eggs.

Oh, i see. I just love birds so quail are kinda tempting. Im already Dr Doolittle with all the animals we have in this house so i might as well add to that amount :/
