@Sally Sunshine thanks for the links. seems decimal point accuracy on the thermo/hydro along with a variety of them is the way to go. Don't know quite what I'm looking for with the temp controller, could only find large household ones locally. And the cooler bottom most likely cant be modified, it was also the only "squared" one available, I live in a seriously small town. Lol. I'll have to make a trip for the cooler or inevitably order the last of what off the internet, tho I really do like to see something in my hand before I buy it.
yes most people dont research accuracy before they purchase.
what are the dimensions of the cooler? and can you make the tray level up the inside to hold the eggs? @attimus sorry I felt really bad loosig connection I am still only at 54% so I could go out again.
Morning everyone! Day 20 for me! No pips yet but the eggs are both shakin. On another note I went to lunch with my mother in love yesterday and apparently she wants smart grandkids. My son just turned 3. Lol
Some picks of my new Dickey incubator. I drilled 2 extra holes in the side for my thermometers.

I like snow...cold is okay to a point. Doesn't mean I can't go....brrrr as it's the only way to make a sound effect. Morning Whites. We're snowed in here been snowing heavy for 2 days blizzard like conditions. Probably didn't make the news...
No, it didn't make the news here. The only channels of the "big 4" are out of D.C., and they're all busy getting excited over 2-3". First sign of a flake & all the other flakes head for the nearest ditch
Two days b4 yesterday's snow the grocery stores were wall-to-wall shoppers, all in panic mode. It's hilarious

Before bed I decided to add a sponge-cloth soaked with water in the incubator to help with the humidity. (Lesson learned - no matter how fancy your incubator, have a back up plan!). That seems to have helps a lot, humidity was 71% this AM - and I woke up to an incubator full of 9 peeping chicks, with one more zipping! I don't know why I bothered with the baskets - they were climbing all over the place, can't tell who is who. So I quickly got the 7 dry ones out and into the brooder. The wrong position ones that pipped are still alive - they are enlarging their pip holes (some movement seen), and one that pipped toward the "floor" was rocking. (I think they were encouraged a lot by being climbed on by the other babies).
I actually have a mild migraine today (probably why I was so tired and confused last night), so I need to go lie back down. But I'm hoping these last little ones make it out on their own. I will re-read the assist article again, of course, but won't be doing anything until this afternoon/evening (which would be about 24 hours). (It's day 21.)
So, 10 babies out, three more pipped in wrong position, unsure about the last two. Babies are resting quietly, tired out from all their spelunking over eggs.

Meanwhile, one of my bachelor roosters has gotten out of his paddock (again) and gone on walkabout in the yard. (His nickname is Houdini, he can get out of anything.) I can't cope with him today. Yard is fenced and secure, cats can get in, but he'd beat a cat up. I just put food and water out for him and told him to be good, and that if anything came after him while I was inside, he was on his own. More secure paddock is on the list...
awwwwww Congrats!!!! See I had not a doubt!! and you worried about this!!! AWESOME!!
I hope he listens better than kids when you tell him to be good!! ha ha ha crack me up
Quote: I have no clue how your body can take the cold like that, dont you ever get chilled to yer bones? you have electric blankets or hotub or somethin
@Sally Sunshine no worries about the spotty connection. Totally understand. I could probably rig something inside the cooler to even things out but I like the icechest you posted with the rest of the stuff. Do you not put turners in your bators?
Of course! The liquor stores about in the same shape, I guess.
I saw a bit during that big snow 2 weeks ago about all the babies that get born 9 months after a big storm like that! Lots to be said for that!

no but have been researching manuals because I would love to be able to do that for sarahs cooler so she doesnt have to mess with them, she has not much use of her hands so it sure would be great to add in there.
you find any ideas PLEASE PLEASE share them with us!! me especially lol and soon!!
