Was for me. That and the idiots from NYC
Moved to central NJ and got rid of most of the NYC folk. Plus got the more rural feel. Just can't leave the nieces, too darn cute. But yes, the weather can be harsh here.

I found that if I wait about 1/2 an hr in between temp adjustments on my HovaBator, it works out better...really touchyI am having so many problems with keeping my temperature stable, this has been going on a couple of days since we started having the dang cold snap. I have never had this many problems with this incubator, I was going to order the STC 1000 to put on the LG that I was using for a hatcher last year because I had so many problems with it. Since I moved to a different place, and don't have much room I am only using my hova-bator for the whole process. I am now babysitting this thing like I did the LG. I even resorted to heating up a bunch of polished rocks in the oven to put in to try to hold the temp stable. If I wrap a towel or blanket around it, then it spikes. Short of sitting beside it constantly adjusting, and worrying (like CH) I don't know what else to do. I have a new wafer I could try, but I really think it is the unstable temperature in such a small place. I am not holding out much hope for these poor eggs
now I am wishing I had went ahead and ordered that thermostat![]()

Quote: oh I hope she does well!!
She may not be incubating them just yet. They lay eggs until they decide there's enough, and will only keep them warm enough to keep the embryos alive. Once she starts setting, the eggs will start developing. Either that, or she doesn't have a clue what she's doing...I have a question about broodies. My FIL has a bantam phoenix that he got mid molt and she had scaley leg mites. He fattened her up, got the mites taken care of and she started laying again on the 27th of Jan. Since laying she has been "Sitting" on her nest, she gets up to eat and poop and whatnot, and she gets up if you poke around under her and she is still laying an egg every 3 days or so. But other than eating, drinking, pooping, and being pestered she is on her nest. Would any of the eggs under her develop, or will they not get warm enough without her actually hunkering down on them?
Sounds to me like you're gonna have some fuzzies running around if she doesn't quit. Better get the bator ready, in case she does quit...mine didI have a question about broodies.
