If it were my coop, I wouldn't put the entrance/exit in the floor because it'll remove a large portion of it. Depending on how many birds will be in it, floor space can be a valuable commodity. I would leave it as positioned as is (back against the wall), put a ramp on one end, and a nesting box on the other end. This will work fine with free-range, or a small pen... unless of course you intend to cage in the base, which would require a floor opening. I would also close off the end by the nesting box with plywood to give a "protected area" including a roost for them to sleep in/on. Just my thoughts on a remodel...

God is so faithful! It amazes me how often we have to come to the end of ourselves. I was so frustrated this afternoon that I just threw up my hands and said ok lord I don't know what else to do cuz I can't afford to process him and I won't get anything with him limping at the sale barn and he's not going to get in the trailer the way he is what do I do? About 2 hours after that I got a phone call from a friend who heard from another friend I just wanted $100 for the hog and I happened to owe her $100 on a goat so she's going send the processors who come kill and haul to get the hog and we're even and it's awesome. Thank you Father!
