It's the morning of day 21 here, and all 4 of my Barnaul eggs are pipping. And my huge double yolker's air sack looks kinda funky. Is that normal?

Just stopping in to say hi :frow been trying to keep up on the thread but that is nearly impossible for those that have a life outside BYC ;). Anyhoooo, I will be picking up 4 doz hatching eggs in the next couple weeks. Last year we hatched out out barnyard mutts which was a good experience for my first hatch. This year I have wanted to acquire some Blue Amerecauna pullets to add our flock, found a local person selling eggs. Man they are hard to find... But managed to find some local :weee. I will be getting 4 doz with a combo of hatching out a mix of blues, black and splash. I am just hoping I have a better success rate than last year. I filled the bator with 42 and we hatched 16, not a great run.

Back to the front page of thread to re-read the reference materials. Sally thank you for this thread and to everyone who contributes to the thread, it has been fascinating to say the least.

Good morning all. Started the morning off right, a pair of coyotes took a dirt nap at the butt crack of dawn. The work never stops around this place so I better get going.

Good Morning. Better the coyotes than the chickens!

STOP INFLUENCING MY DECISIONS!!!!!

Presuming it hatches, that's 75% so far - not bad for beat up shipped eggs!!!!

I may join the Easter HAL and hatch some of Lissa's eggs (I didn't get a girl from her in the last hatch).

Oh, and for demonstration purposes, here is a photo of Jenny's egg from today:

Really round. Never should have set them (well, to be fair, I realized the risk). Although there were other issues, all but one of her chicks were malpositioned (only one malpo in other mommas). Will not set any more of her eggs. @Sally Sunshine

Some of my Naked Neck girls (just coming into lay) are laying some torpedo-shaped eggs. Anyone care to comment on what issues we see in trying to hatch those? (The one that is the prettiest and heaviest pullet seem to habitually lay double yolkers.

I hope she grows out of it...)

That is awesome!!! dont go with one hatch of mals to make decisions on those eggs, I think you should tilt the entire bator a bit like I said and try it. you have not to loose!

@Fire Ant Farm What day are you on? I'm halfway into day 21 and no pips. There is movement by some of the eggs when I shine a light on them though. I've done everything right this time around so I'm a little concerned why I haven't any pips??
I hope I see more updates!!!

Good morning everyone! Gonna go round the yard and see how many Muscovy eggs I can find. Anyone wanna guess how many eggs I'll find?
