I guess I'm going to start using a wet bulb thermometer in my incubators. There are a bunch of people in a Facebook group that claim that Seramas are super easy to hatch as long as you don't let your humidity drop below 60% (wet bulb). They claim that their method works anywhere in the world. I'm not sure that I buy it since my eggtopsies appear to show that my humidity was too high with a max reading of 38% on my Brinsea. At this point, I'm not sure that I have much to lose though since my Serama hatches have been horrible anyways. I wonder if they'll replace my eggs if I prove their method wrong (it's nice to dream). Do any of y'all have any experience using higher wet bulb readings in a relatively humid climate? I live in Alabama, and I've always had much better hatches at lower humidity levels, but Serama eggs don't seem to want to hatch well no matter what I do. @Sally Sunshine do you have any thoughts on this?

Been staying a little busy the past few days, but managed to get a couple of things accomplished. I got a full-length tarp over the laying house run, and a couple of icing bucket waterers built and installed. Kind of happy about that...



It's starting to look like a small-scale chicken farm in the back yard...



New waterer in the laying house run...

Hi, this is my first time hatching and I'm very nervous. I'm on day 21 and I have 6 partridge wyanndottes in my RCOM 10 pro. I have 2 pips so far, the first one over 16 hours ago. It is cheeping but doesn't seem to be making any progress. Is it okay or does it need helping out?

Leave it alone. Chicks often can take a few hours to a day zipping their egg. Only if it's malpositioned or takes longer than 24 hours is the benchmark that I've seen in my research.

I wasn't referring to anaerobic bacteria. I was generalizing knowing most people would think about things with lungs, or even gills.
