Been staying a little busy the past few days, but managed to get a couple of things accomplished. I got a full-length tarp over the laying house run, and a couple of icing bucket waterers built and installed. Kind of happy about that... It's starting to look like a small-scale chicken farm in the back yard... New waterer in the laying house run... and new waterer in the growout pen...
Oh wow!! :love. :bow

Sally, you asked how old of chicks go under a broody...I usually put new ones in. I still have some of Bubbas' in the bator. In fact, they are in lock down. She can have a couple of those. :p

Quote: If you decide to leave in out of the shell, make sure that it's on a very clean towel. That umbilicus is wide open, so it's a perfect place for bacteria to enter, and most incubators and hatchers have mesh floors, and that could cause it to bleed out while it's scrambling around.

Just kidding... thanks alot, whites!!!

My husband LOVES this run. He is making me keep this post up while I'm at work so he can look at it and do calculations

Wow... thanks dragon! It's 16'W x 8'D x 4'H. If I had it to do over, I'd have made it 6' tall instead of 4'. I used 8' treated 2x4's and ripped them in half to save some coin...

Hi, this is my first time hatching and I'm very nervous. I'm on day 21 and I have 6 partridge wyanndottes in my RCOM 10 pro. I have 2 pips so far, the first one over 16 hours ago. It is cheeping but doesn't seem to be making any progress. Is it okay or does it need helping out?
Wait 24 hours before intervening...

HELP
This one just hatched but.....

What do I do?

Two options... 1) do as Kathy recommended and set it back in the shell in an upright position. 2) Use sterile scissors to cut the cord about halfway and pat it down with cornstarch to stop any bleeding. It'll need to be isolated from any other chicks to keep them from pecking at it.
UR are the waters on auto fill? Or do you have open the valves to fill? It's looking great from the pics, I'm working on the front section of mine, one gate built and about 50 ft of 6 ft wire left, pic's to come
I didn't/haven't run water to the coops. Those are just filler tubes running to the outside of the wire for easier filling. Auto-filling is definitely an option for the near future...

Hi, and welcome Chicky! I see Hippie already answered your question, but rest assured there are lots of people here that can and will help you with anything you need to, want to, and in some cases don't want to, know. Stay in touch, and pics when they hatch please! We are all addicted to the little ones! :frow

Oh... sally... Lost the quote, but I love the white polish! :love
Fox nearly gave me a heart attack though.
