I have had this issue with the late hatchers too. They will fluff up in the brooder. Give them a full day, and any spots that are still real sticky try lightly brushing with a dry paper towel before you take any water to their fluff. I've never bathed a chicken before.

I guess I just need some reassurance to leave them alone but it is soooooo difficult to stand back and watch these little guys. Still have 10 eggs that haven't pipped on day 23. Next time I am doing a dry incubation! Poor little guys look like they have been dipped in hair gel!

Often for sticky chicks you do need to wash them. Use really warm warm (remember they were incubating at 99.5 degrees)and a wash cloth and then dry them really well ( I use a blow dryer set on low) or just towel dry & put right back in the bator if you only have 1 or 2 to do ( so the bator temp isn't dropping too much from being opened frequently)

One of my penguins hatched early, and ate an alligator.

I was gonna say I'd take a dozen of the day-old alligators....

Coffee pot yes. Keurig no. I don't like the way the keurig makes coffee. It leaves a film on top and it just kinda grosses me out

She does! I've been told that her setup is nothing short of spectacular! All the animals are in their native habitat; not a wall to be seen anywhere. Unfortunately, the complex isn't open to the public, 'cause many of the animals are quite shy by nature. Also, because they've had virtually no contact with humans, they have no immunity from human diseases.

Always use a clean cup. I think they put some kind of lubricant in the k-cups that leaves that. I would rather just make a pot of coffee ONCE instead of using those expensive cups and only getting 12oz. at a time. I'm for sure not on the keurig bandwagon. Waste of $$$$ IMO
