Finally read all the way through. Good morning to you all. Made it through night two without any problems that I could tell minus just having to add water. Hope everyone is having a swell day. Debating making the DH run the kids to the dentist so I can get caught up around the house. Hoping for a good day for me and all of you.
Yea you should get him to that way you can stay and chat with us I mean get things cleaned up.

That's a neat setup. My coop is nothing special at all... But we kind of built it blindly and it works great. I think what ever you create will be awesome.
I wish I was as competent as you seem to think I am, oh deluded one

I'm the guy who measures everything at least twice, uses two squares, etc., and still manages to erect something that's totally out of plumb & too long on one end.

I think I do the same thing on just about every project. Things start off so well and by the end of it I have no clue how I screwed it up.

Exactly why I'm unbuilding the last coop I built just last fall. Realized the hard way that I couldn't reach the new rooster I'd had in it for two weeks, and wasn't about to turn him loose in hopes he'd join the hens on his own; major design malfunction.

I've skimmed 3 days worth and am so glad none of us have won a lottery... Insures our forever friendships.

The surrogate hatch for @Jessimom was reasonably successful with 1 Brahma and 6 silkies. We have our theories the Brahma eggs may have gotten bacteria... I'm also pegging wonky humidity dips in the beginning. I tried the "dry" method until about day 14 when I couldn't stand 30 degree variables anymore. Back to what worked last hatch, keeping humidity around 38%...until lockdown then 68-70... Always 100 degrees.

Watch out HAL...@Sally SunshineI have some "esplaining" to do... There are 90 eggs headed my way

. I am in the process of tracking down extra bator space and employing some of Kathy's (@Jessimom broody hens! Lol

On the home front, the death virus seems to have left the building and the concrete for the "SuperCoop", run and garden began yesterday!!! My Bielefelder chicks are super skiddish and now I'm wondering if they're what I want to keep a trio from... Thoughts?

Ya gotta get one of these...........me to actually. My coops are designed for ease of use, not ease of catching a chicken thats faster than I am.

@Jessimom how are your eggs? I have to find an update, I simply can't catch up two days, at least not now.
2 blue silkies hatched, one had a stroke and had to be culled. 3 Buff Brahmas hatched, 1 with it's insides outside and it died. So, 1 silkie and 2 buff brahma are healthy and happy.. How is your roo with the swollen face?

He was wicked easy to train. He kept taking off his diaper so he was told either leave the diaper on or go pee in the potty. He went pee in the potty and the rest is history.
I've only heard WICKED used in New England. Is it common in PA? Or have you lived further north?

@Chaos18 here is a quick pic I took. Hard to see everything that's going on, but when it's empty I'll get a better one.

The fan on the top right of the pic is the one I added. It's above the eggs slightly and pointed slightly towards the wall.
VERY NICE set up!!!

It went from having hot spots at 103 and cool spots at 97 to having no hot or cool spots and the temps fluctuate around .7*F total or less. Humidity holds right at 66%. I also added a small strip of 12v LED lights connected on the fan circuit to stay on all the time. Makes it to where I can see in there when the elements are off.
I love the idea of the led lights!

Ok, I am like 20 pages behind still. Hopefully will catch up sometime today!!! Happy Tuesday everyone!

Oh, but one of us has won the lottery...ME! Matter of fact, I've won every one of them for years. I keep my $$ in my pocket, so I'm automatically a winner simply from breaking even, which is more than 99.9999% of lottery players can say.
