Well it was time to lockdown most of the chicken eggs tonight. Candled and the Nieders were a no-go (clear). All but two of the Twenste are either clear or scrambled. One is ready but the other looks like it is lagging 3 or 4 days behind so it will stay on the rack for a bit. I have two Orust that look finished and ready and one that is lagging but still has veins. And I have one Sapphire egg and two browns.. The silver cots have all drawn down but two so I am hoping to see some action from them tomorrow. I am making a PVC ring rack to fit in the rocker trays. That way I can get 100 quail in the rocker. I also checked out an ad on Crags list about an older Sportman incubator. The man would like $200 or trade for livestock. I sent an email and asked him how he felt about sheep ourt of dairy lines. He said he was interested so we are talking and I may have me a Sportsman soon.

Benny is probably asleep... But I need to give him a huge thank you. I don't usually make soup.. But he talked me into making homemade chicken noodle for one very sick kid and another that got a deep filling put it... The response I got was... Ohhhhh mom, this is so goooood. This is how you need to keep making our soups... Brought tears to my eyes. Thank you Benny!!!! Someone tag him for me please.

You didn't quarantine the drake!??? How do you know that it doesn't have a disease that will kill all your flock? YOU SHOULD QUARANTINE ANY new bird before introduction it to an existing flock!!!

Hi Benny,

How long do you quarantine for? I kept a new rooster I got by himself for a month. Is that long enough?

Hi Jessimom
The rule is 40:40
At list 40 dayes at a minimum 40 feats distance from the existing floc.
In this time you begin your chours with your flock and then go to your quar. Bird afther you washed your hends . Afther 3 weeks of quarantine if the new bird is looking good you should put with it one of your bird ( the one that you you less love) and if afther another week every thing is fine with your birds, you take some beding from your coop and put it with the quarantined bird for another 10 dayes( this will help the new bird to get use to the parasite in your flock) and if then it will be OK so you can join them together, it seems a lot of work but belive me strict biosecurity is priceless!!

Do the newly hatched alligators and rattlesnakes fight?

No, the snakes have the advantage of their built-on rattles. They just rattle their tails a few times, and the gators fall asleep.
