So, a majority of my chicks under the broody have hatched. But, there is still one pipper left. The hen keeps leaving the egg and I keep putting it under her. I enlarged the pip whole so I could see if it was alive. And it is. I don't have a bator(my friend is borrowing it) what should I do?

Hello! I come baring questions! So I have my eggs in lockdown for the Easter Hal and was wondering if it is ok to do the method of putting the eggs in water to see if they shake? Thanks for any advise! :D

700

Yesterday it was 70 degrees here, today this....guess Mother Nature is having a good laugh on us. Blizzard conditions in most of Colorado eastern plains today, 17 inches in that backyard. On the positive note, we have not lost power today, incubator running along.

Beautiful, but totally unwanted here. Keep it there!

Keep it there!  Don't even think about sending it to the east coast.

X2 you beat me to it. I'm in full blown spring mode. We set up the greenhouse today and we're planning to start our seeds tomorrow. The kids and I even cleaned out the pill today and filled it a couple inches (we have a well so have to do it slowly over time). I REALLY don't want to see snow again until next December.

I would not big them until after a good time has passed after hatch day. Remember that temperature and humidity play a role. Let them sit a bit and if it's necessary tap on the egg after you think they should have hatched. A lot of people mess up by not sitting on their hands.

Ok thank you that was my worry. I may be new to this but I do know to at least ask someone who has experience before doing something like. So once again big thanks!!!!!!! :D

I agree with Linda. No reason to do anything at this point other than watch temp and humidity. Pull up a chair, place your hands under your buttocks, and sit down. Keep those hands under your britches until the hatch is completed.

Would it be better if I layed the eggs on the bottom of the bator and hand turned them? I can't seem to find any tips on setting serama eggs. I guess I could try to use the dividers but they are a pain!
