Ugh, so my chicks have started feathering out already and i still cant seem to correct that ones foot :( Hes walking fine on it now, im just worried about when he gets older...

finally not a great thing to do....but neither is picking up dead ducks you raised from lings.....it didn't even try and eat then just killed for sport
And, I do agree with you. I would also dispatch such a killer. But, it would be a horrifying experience for me. I can tell you that when I took out a predator last summer, I was pleased to have made the kill. That was one pred that would not be killing an other of my flock members.

Keep what away since my chickens won't eat spiders I found a huge spider in the coop this morning

I hope you get to feeling better!
I have had an interesting week... So i had a hen go broody awhile ago and shortly after i had two more hens go broody... They all three decided to use the same nesting box....

I haven't lost any in quite a while, but I'm curious: What would kill a bird & let it lay, totally intact, with no sign of entry into a large enclosure adjoining a shut-up coop, always at night, and sometimes no feathers scattered around? Granted, the enclosure had no top of any sort, and the coop had some loose plywood in a back corner, but the carcasses were always found outside.

That building & enclosure are no longer in use, BTW

Mink or weasel. But normally they'll kill every bird in an enclosure.
