Well @Sally Sunshine I didn't get to screw nothing up with my first chick that hatched. Pearls radiator had a hole in it and I just got home. In to much pain to sit and stare at the incubator like I planned. But that may be a good thing.

Sorry about the radiator, hope it wasn't too hard to fix (and that you got it fixed). Very sorry you are in pain! Good luck with the chickies hatching!!
One of my EE;s did not want to wait till tomorrow to hatch it is almost out of its shell!!!
Congratulations!!! Go chickies go!!!

That's what's bad. I didn't even do most of the work. I just mainly held the umbrella and flashlight. My screwed up back really takes away my manly usefulness. More upset about that than missing the chick hatching. But everything's gonna be ok.

I have had some SERIOUS back pain but mine was the fixable kind. I do not envy you!

I'm a girl, so I really can't sympathize with you about your loss of manly usefulness....LOL To me, useful is useful, no matter the gender....

I really do hope you find some relief from your back pain!!!

Lock down tonight on my first shipped eggs. I think I'm currently at 4 live eggs from that group. But, will set all 6, just in case I've made a mistake. Second group (12 eggs, also shipped) due to lock down tomorrow, so I'll lock them down at the same time. I'm not sure how I'll put them... the first 4 have horrid air cells, and they're huge. The second group has some saddles, but are not bad. Air cells on this group are sized acceptably. 3rd group (my gender selected eggs) is in other bator, due to hatch Sunday, then there's a lone turkey poult in the bator with that last group. He's not due to hatch until next Friday. Not sure what to do with him with all the juggling going on! I expect to leave him right where he is until perhaps the first bator is empty, then do a quick sterilization, and move him in there.
After going to Incubating eggs 101, and pondering, I've decided that the first 4 eggs, which are small will be hatched in a "make shift nest" that will keep them as upright as possible, with largest portion of air cell facing up. I don't want to put them in cartons because with them being small, I don't want to risk pip occurring in position that will be occluded by the wall of the carton cell. The next group may very well stay in their carton, since my best hatch last year occurred upright. My gender hatch may be divided into an upright and a laying down group.
