Quote: They do... but most domestic ducks can't fly, so no need to worry about them hopping out of their enclosure. Peafowl have no problems clearing a six foot fence even with clipped wings, so they have to be kept in a proper aviary or they will go wondering around the neighborhood.

Lemmee see if I've got this right:

Hungry hawk or owl + prey that can't fly + plus an enclosed area with no top = one very happy predator.

Close?

Maybe I should switch from chickens to ducks

I would sooner deal with ducks than chickens and their dust!!!! muddy poo gets on yer boots yes, but dang chicken dust gets everywhere and you feel like you need a shower just getting eggs!!! just saying!!
The foregoing message brought to you by the lady who hatches chickens by the hundreds, on a weekly basis

So avian predators don't attack ducks?

See Kat's reply.......

mine which sits empty now that spitz are gone

BUT the pallet duck coop would make a much roomier suite for chickens!!

I have a question. I have had eggs in the incubator for 15 days. Yesterday one of my Cochins went broody. Would it be possible for me to take the eggs that are in my incubator and put them under my hen? Or should I just leave them in the incubator for the remaining days? Not sure if it's relevant but this is the first time my Cochin has gone broody.
