I saw that atleast one duck has broken thru the air sac but not pipped and he is still moving...my question is do you know how to tell if they all were shrink wrapped like the one that pipped during the spike? Did I kill all my babies when I opened it....today is suppose to be hatch day and no more have pipped...
You did not kill them by opening the incubator. What is your current temp and humidity?

Good Morning Sally!
frow.gif

also when my incubator humidity drops during lockdown it always spikes when I have to add water ...warm or cool water ...it doesnt matter...if I had water the heat always spikes. I know I need a better incubator. Do I have to let my ducks and chicks die if they are shrink wrapped...they have not pipped and I can't open it again because it is in lockdown
I think the biggest problem with the styrobators is the fact that they have a small air volume. When the bator is turned off, or opened, the temperature drops too low, and when the heating element comes back on, it stays on for too long, and gets too hot. Since there isn't much air in them, the air heats up super quickly. By the time the element turns off, it still continues to emit heat and increases the temperature inside beyond that which the thermostat is set. The insulation holds the excess heat in the bator. That's my opinion on why these bators spike like they do, but I could totally be wrong. I don't know if possibly a UPS would help or not, but it would keep the bator running for a short time while the power was out. If you are removing the lid to the bator to add water, I recommend NOT doing that! If you can use a syringe and a piece of airline tubing to add water through the vent hole, that would be ideal. It keeps all of the heat and humidity from escaping the incubator, which helps to keep the temps more stable. I hope I've helped.

I have a lg 9300 and it was working fine and the power went out for a second and it changed my setting up and it spiked to 110 last night and I got to it quickly

I took the top off a little to let out some heat....I was in lockdown on day 20 and I saw no pips and the humidity had gone to 80 percent and it dropped to like 71 and I thought that was ok since it was too high anyway. I tried to lower the temp without opening and it kept going up even with the incubator set on 80 degrees...so I did open it a little and then I noticed a chick pipping at that momemt.

I had to assist it today because it was stuck and so far it is doing ok...but I have duck eggs and other chick eggs in the incubator that all should be hatching today....

If you caught the temp fast enough it should be ok, i would be worried about the humidity right now

You didn't specify that.
I'll candle again and get pics, thing is I have not been able to find whether jiggly (

) air cells are something that should delay turning. Yes, I found stuff on saddled and detached, but not jiggly!

All the air is at the correct end though, so hmmm...

Thanks!!

$300 for the sectional. Should I give up on getting more?
Depends on how badly you want to sell it. Might could try for an extra $50 if you think they'll go for it.

Morning Pensmaster! No I haven't planted my plants yet. I've been super busy, and my first attempt at keeping the chickens out of the garden has failed (stupid squirrels), so I need to pursue plan B. I'm hoping I might get that done today. I'm also wanting to make some sort of watering system where I don't have to stand there with the hose for so long. Good luck with the pumpkin seeds!:fl
My sister and her husband built raised beds. They put pond liner in the bottom, PVC pipes with holes and a corner to top with the cap on top of the dirt. They fill/water once a week. It's really cool and great if you go on vacation. I have the article and plans if anyone is interested.
