So how many chicks did you end up with overnight?

Hi Everyone. This is my 2nd set and hopefully first successful hatch! We are brand new to chickens and we have 7 in a brinsea incubator. I have a question about egg weight. I posted it in the main board but didn't get any responses. I have some eggs that are loosing weight right on track and a couple that are major slackers. Should I count these out? My last hatch didn't go well due to humidity and temperature issues so I really want to get it right this time. Below is my chart.

Are you only using weight loss? Or are you also checking the air cells to gauge what your humidity should be at?

Weighing Eggs, why and HOW TO! post #70097

I'm pretty sure, w/o going back & checking, that the articles on the first couple pages of the thread address that situation. If you do't find what you need there, jump back in here most anytime & someone can probably walk you through it.

14/22 in the brooder and today I'm
Seeing the one is still trying to get out I think... And one other that's been trying since last night too is still struggling. I snuck an appropriate amount of moisture in and they're working at it, worried their shells are drying out even just a little :-/ 6 eggs still doing nothing which annoys me... This is day 3 hatching for these guys lol. I'm
Going to laugh if I they hatch tomorrow and by laugh I mean be annoyed because I'm going to have 5 eggs go in there today and I was really hoping they'd be out!!

Are the struggling ones struggling with zipping? If so how long have they been zipping?

so would it still be fancy if it had a real seat but no door? Well it was a metal seat actually come to think of it not sure I would call that real? Unless you want to call it real hard, real cold, or real hot.
Mmmmm.... Yep!

Never used one with a seat, but the edges of the holes were worn so smooth it didn't matter. I used to chuckle at my grandparents; they had electric lights,a telephone, a TV, even an electric pump on the well, but never had indoor facilities.
LOL

Quote: You might also want to PM or tag Joey (Ur-ur-ur....) ; I believe he built one that fills from the top & flows into a lateral pipe with feeding holes spaced out along its length. If it wasn't him, you'll find several on the "Show Me Your Feeders" thread I mentioned earlier. Good Luck, whichever way you go,

The one is on 12 hours from initial pip and the other has been trying to zip at an angle for like 18 hours or so so a good 24 hours trying to get out. It had a crooked air cell, I'm not 100% sure it's ok but I didn't want to rush in and operate in anyway until I was sure it couldn't get out. I've pulled it off for this situation successfully before but I dislike helping like this... I'm concerned the chick is very mis positioned and the if the shell has dried out at all it bad.. I also can't see the beak im not sure what's happened 100% not cool. I'm trying not to worry but I think it's going to need help if it's not harmed itself :( the other bird is fine it's just taking it's sweet time I think. Three have hatched since these guys started and I think that the one of these ones is rather small because of how it's pecking on the inside of the egg which is weird since the others are BIG chicks I think. I'm going to go check them and the 6 lazy eggs when my husband gets back from his no crow rooster expirament. The roosters won't shut it and one of our kids begged me to let him stay and I ordered the collars and my husband was watching youtube videos about them and I saw that and he was pleased to hear they were on their way lol. Hope it works because I'm not having the crowing anymore!! If the 6 would just hatch I could help the other egg without being do worried about things err. Do you think I should pull it and see if it's ok or wait another few hours or ? And 12+ hours is ok from pip to hatch right? Every year putting all this straight in my head is just like taking a calculus test two years after your last class lol
