Humidity is 71%. The other chicks just popped out easily HOURS ago. Hatch day is fun, but stressful!

I have spent FOREVER trying to get her to call out when she is ready to get up. This week she has begun calling out for me. It is great because I KNOW she is awake, and ready to come down, but it is bad because before she would play in her crib for a while (an average of an hour!). Now she can't wait to yell!
Yesterday, she was standing in the kitchen, saying, "Abi, Abi, Abi." like she was disapproving of me!

The only thing missing was a side to side head shake.

We had similar success with cockerels when we first started with chicks. 4 out of 5 were roosters. I feel the frustration. They must have shipped the wrong box of chicks to the feed store.

Bummer. This stinks though because I ordered my own shipment (not the BBS or Heritage RIR) from the hatchery and paid for pullets.

I can relate with that! I had a route I ran for almost 10 years, at first with my dad, then on my own. Ice storms were terrible. Its like the worst game of chutes and ladders EVER. No matter how many times ya chuck a paper up the hill, it just slides back to the car! Also, never did I think I could fit under a Camry... Well, slip just right on the ice and turns out, I CAN!

She is such a sweet thing, And I have not had the problems that others have with her. So far, she can be told to not yell at me when she tries to sass. AND!!!!! She is talking! No more grunting at me!!

Though that will turn bad soon, but for now, she is communicating, and it is good!
