My quotes aren't working. Oh well!
I need to stop drinking already. It's messing with my emotions.
When I used to ship or receive dogs by air, the plastic crates were the only one that were "airline approved". What is required these days?I used to have hamsters. They were kept in a glass tank with a screen lid. Now it is "animal cruelty" (though pet stores still do it!) because there is not enough air circulation. Ditto for the plastic dog crates.

It's not just this one. It is adults too. Worse yet is when someone doesn't want to accept the answer you give. It's like you didn't give the answer they wanted to hear. He's a kid. You gotta pull it out of them. I have lots of practice with mumbling teanagers. Lol
Seems to be.Sound a tad familiar?
I built these 2 back when I was raising many more chicks at once.Oh I very much agree. I'm going to post a photo of my brooder set up, cheap, easy to put together and lots of cool space and ventilation. I also don't know if it will be of any help hehe.clearly they love dumping their food but this has worked perfectly and I have t moved a thing in ages, dozens of chicks have gone through here, at 2-3 weeks the move to one on the ground that 2x the size. This keeps going to the cool side a bit. These guys are 2 days old. And I rarely move the heat lamp- they move further away if they're hot and it's cool over there. Temperature regulation can be really hard and those of us that have raised a lot of birds can usually look back on stories like this and their own and remember a lot of lessons learned. I'm glad you mentioned the tote maybe over heating! Those things don't have good ventilation :-/

Fifteen minutes until sundown - it's down to 91F so I'm going to go back out and watch my chickens for a little bit, then lock them up for the night when they roost. One or two seem to always escape the paddock right before it gets dark, having me chase them and daylight at the same time. It's usually the little olive egger.![]()
