So, the Cream Legbar pullet is NOT doing well. This AM she was just standing still letting her wings droop and panting (it was <80F). I picked her up and brought her into the mudroom brooder - it was like picking up a bundle of feathers, and keel is at stage 1 - the stage where survival is unlikely (according to the chart I have seen). I hate that chickens hide that they are sick or injured so well for so long (not that I can do anything for her). I dread that this is going to happen to all the pullets in that group (all daughters of hens with Mareks, in retrospect).

I'm no expert on diseases, but it wasn't cocci, was it? I ask because when mine had cocci (the vet said that's what it was), they would droop their wings, get pretty thin, and eventually just lay down and sadly die. I'm sure you know way more than I do about this sort of thing, but I just figured I'd share my $.02.

Being under the weather and exhausted last night. I neglected to cover the brooder. The cat dined on baby quail.

I just walked back to check on the pullet - she died some time in the past 30 minutes or so. That went fast. Poor thing.

I need to get her ready to send for necropsy. Than I'd better get out there and get some more chores done. Staying busy is the key...

I don't think your chicks have worms, @runt325
Did they have cocci before? Did you treat them for that if they did? I have seen yellow droppings a few times from chickens with cocci, but other than that, I don't know why the dropping looks like that.
