My little mystery rooster is 8 weeks old now, and showing off blue ears. Any guesses on breed? He is tiny and hatched from a blue egg that I thought was cream Legbar.

For what it's worth, just so you know, white earlobes can look aqua blue when bruised (happened to a Cream Legbar hen of mine who scratched her earlobe). Chicken bruises can be alarmingly bright blue, compared to what you might expect from human bruises.

You guys might (or might not) find this interesting. When I blot fountain pen ink on a wet paper towel (e.g. to wipe off a pen), over time the different components of that particular ink will spread in the paper towel at different rates and separate (like you may have done in chromatography in chemistry class).

Well, I used paper towels to help tend to Goodwin's tail picking injury and when I had to pull out the blood feathers, and was so flustered about the whole thing that I didn't discard the bloody paper towels once done. I came back a day later to tidy up and found this:

:thumbsup
But anyway how is everybody
Terrible. Kidding!
Nothing quite as home-y as the sound of gentle clucking coming from your bathroom while you iron clothes.
:love
I actually have never shot a fawn. I'm really a big softy when it comes to animals. I have a hard time even shooting doe. But don't tell no one. I have a rep to protect.
Awwwww...
Nope it's a private conversation between you and 30,000 others.
:lau Ditto that!!! So very cool! BTW, if Y'all ever get the chance to look at cocci under a microscope in person, you should. It is amazing!
:bow
Zoom in on "macroscopic lesions", I think that would also explain why sometimes we see excess mucus. -Kathy
Thanks so much Kat!!
As much moderation I have done in this thread, I am not supposed to hang out in it and post. :hide
Aww, really? Phooey. I'd love to have you stay. I think you fit right in!
Ha! I guess I better make myself scarce for a while. Y'all enjoy yourselves!
TTFN @TwoCrows! Thanks for helping!
I can't cook or bake worrh a darn. I burn PB&J!
Umm.... Why are you cooking PB&J?? :lau
Thanks for that. I do remember the occasional up the back blow ups. I'll never put veggies in the cart again without the plastic bags. I always see women wipe down the handle before they grab a cart. I thought they were just being paranoid. Isn't that why we have immune systems? Have we been that bad? except you.
I always wipe the cart handles..... :sick
One EE egg pipped! :celebrate
Woohoo!!
I knew you would say that. I didn't anyway! You bring meaning to my life, you're my inspiration! Ohhhh! Well, I can see what you mean there. Chaos is pretty strange! :lau :celebrate
Ummmm. Okay! Wait, you met him? Does he actually look like a minion? :gig
Hey friends. I am new to hatching/candling and am on day 6 with shipped eggs. I set 6 eggs. This morning 1 was clear and I had 1 blood ring. Opened them up and they were scrambled from shipping. I was kind of expecting it from when I first candled. I saw bubbles in them. However, on my other 4 I'd like to describe what I see and find out if its good or bad. :D When I candle from the air cell down (because I am being so careful not to disrupt the air cell anymore than USPS already did) I see what is like an egg with 4 layers. I see the air cell, then veins raining down the sides of the shell, then a darker ring, then clear egg. I do not see an embryo or a circle of vessels. Not sure if I will see that around day 10, or maybe never? I look at the candling pics online and it looks so perfect. That lottle round emryo and the vessels radiating out from it. My eggs are light brown. They're barred rock. Does it sound like they're normal or is there a problem?
Welcome!
