I'd think any opening large enough to accept a chicken's head would be no problem for a mouse to get through.http://www.staples.com/Whitmor-Wire...mJRYrH1XCy6arSYqZftg0135LfNlIfMkXqRoCUZfw_wcB
You can take it apart. I was thinking of using just one grid.
what did I send you again? lol3 OE are out and 1 CCL, 2 CCL are pipped.
Alright, pics of the one I helped hatch (Sally Ann):
Whoa, I just realized I need to trim my fingernails!![]()
Anywho, there she is!
Two more hatched for a total of 4 out of 10.I float tested the other six, and apparently they're all still viable. I didn't see or hear any signs of life when I candled, though. Still hopeful ....![]()

Here's the other two:
This one took a few hours to zip, but I wasn't in the room for a while so I didn't notice. It got out by itself, nonetheless. Would you believe that its dad was an EE and its mom was a very light-colored RSL? It looks like a pure EE!
This is an RIR/EE. She's really tiny and feisty.
Does anyone have ideas for names for these last two?
They are all in the brooder now. Since I had to open the bator anyways, I took them out. (Don't worry they had time to dry in the bator first!)
I want to thank everyone who gave me advice and encouraged and cheered me and the chicks on during this hatch.
The ones I remember are:
@Chaos18
@BantyChooks
@Sally Sunshine
@daxigait
@MotorcycleChick
@BusyBearMama
@Akrnaf2
@Jessimom
@DwayneNLiz
and anyone else that I can't think of right now since I'm tired,
THANK YOU!
sweet!! goo babies gooooDay 15 candling is done. 10 are moving well, 2 I can't see moving the shells are very dark.8 were quitters/ clears and one had broke and leaked a tiny tiny tiny bit on the turner only. So I pray the broken one does not cause the remaining 13 any problems. July 1st is the big day so cross your fingers please!
thinking of you Kristin, hugsOK, I'm heading out. Wish me luck.

I went to a wedding last night.
Then I went to the 1860 saloon to play pool and then I napped at a friend's house. Just got home and caught up in the last half hour.

How old are they and how is their feathering, and what will they be kept in overnight?I need to finish the modifications on a pop door for the latest coop, & install the last of the skirting on the run so the little ones can't get through to the outside or the grown birds on the other side, then I'm gonna kick these kids out of the basement. I turned off the bulbs in the brooder a couple days ago to get them hardened off a bit. They're big enough that they could jump out of the brooder when I open the lid to feed & water, but they don't know that & I ain't tellin' them. Daytime temps are running 70-90, nights maybe down to 60. Basement windows stay open 24/7 when there's no driving rain, so the temps in their room are probably in the 70's. Might need a heat source at night yet for a week or so?
What y'all think?
