You're right. One has an internal pip, drawdown, and movement, so I'm going to boost humidity higher now and not touch.

Before you yell at me for opening the bator, I saw something strange on the eggs, and remembered I had seen it before on previous batches, but had forgotten to ask. It appears at around lockdown time. I couldn't get a good pic through the glass....

It is grey rings around the very top. Not indented, just a grey color making rings. They were not there at time of setting. Anyone know what this is?

Marks from your candler?

@BantyChooks. Well, you could get a job like mine that you work 12-14 hours a day. Then you can just hope since you can't see or do anything either way

It seems like the outline of the original air cell.

That was a smart move. And faster than building from scratch.
I paid just under 130 for the standard battery one with a door. The one with the solar was about 150. Cheaper than all those birds, and the door is wrong on the one coop for a light sensitive one so occasionally I will have to change the time with the day length which is no big deal.

I'm not going with the dusk to dawn version because when it is stormy it would be too dark under the trees and I fear it would close prematurely.

Mine will be on a clock that automatically adjusts for the day of the year.

But you're right. It would have been cheaper for me to buy 16 commercial ones than lose all the birds I have.

Both can be set for time, and one can work by light.
I just have to redo a door on the one coop, and install the other one and its door when it gets here.
