My pallet coop! I designed it to look like an old southern-styled dog trot house. Chickens on the left, goats on the right.

That's very nice.

...

Sounds delicious.
...
It was pretty good.
After lots of time planning the recipe, I was telling my son what birria was as he was leaving for work. He told me he made birria all the time when he worked at 'Lucha', a Mexican Soul Food restaurant. I could have just picked his brain in the first place.

Seems good!

(Never had a tomatillos)
Does gator tast like chicken? (

Tomatillos are a Mexican staple. Used in a variety of foods but especially salsa verde.

Alligator is a firm meat with a taste more between fish and chicken.

Benny what type of grain is best to sprout. Barley?
My answer to this yesterday was only partially correct. I was thinking of growing fodder. For that, barley is the best as it grows best as fodder and is less problematic. However, for sprouting, most seeds will work equally well. From radish to peas to sunflower seeds.

Didn't fish this weekend as my son came for a visit and brought my grandson...but me and the wife are talking the grandson out trolling for Walleye tomorrow night.
I know a lot of poachers i suppose...
But cut shells is s common thing. I don't think you have to know poachers....the running joke here is that deer season starts the 4th of July.
There are still quote a few people here that don't have electricity or running water...so of course they aren't always worried about the law.
A lot of people here spot there first deer withtheir "wifes" tag.
Not me I'm a law abiding type. And not much for just living off the land.
But a large amount of people i know have neverhad a conventional job.
They make ends meet one way or another
And alot of venison is eaten around these parts.
Just sayin.....Phil
I get that. I definitely know of poachers. The river where my wife has her annual all girl's float is a beautiful clear river that used to be great fishing. You can't catch a fish there any more because a group of outfitters don't follow any rules.
The fish and wildlife belong to everyone with a license or a camera. The MO dept. of Conservation has done an amazing job over the last 70 years to bring many species back that had either been extirpated or extremely scarce. When I was a kid, deer and turkey were extremely hard to find. Thanks to management, licensing and the wildlife code, turkey are quite common now. We went from the very first 3 day dawn to noon turkey season in 1960 to now having a 4 month archery season, a one month fall gun season and a 3 week gun season.
Deer are so plentiful now that one can get virtually unlimited permits in certain parts of the state and even the more restricted areas have 6 times the season lengths we used to.
They've brought back prairie chickens, ruffed grouse and introduced pheasant.
The sizes of largemouth, smallmouth, trout and stripers has improved dramatically, where people follow the rules and report those that don't.

I have NEVER said that I am smart! That for other people to say!
Yes I am the luckiest man in the world! I am married to the most beautiful lady in the world, have the most wonderful children in the world and thank God I am healthy! What do you need more?

I still haven't gotten the run done. I don't deserve to have animals if I can't handle dismantling and rebuilding a run.
If I can't redo the run, and take care of animals, I am certainly not worthy of having Duckling!
I'm way behind on projects too. Don't feel bad.

Just think. It will be another 6-8 months before they start laying.
I like fall hatched chicks so they start laying in spring.
You actually let your children outside?
ep.gif

They could get hurt by falling. They could cut themselves. They could fall down and scrape their knees or hands, or both, and get dirt on themselves or their clothes. Worst of all, they could catch a kickball or dodge ball with their face. Heaven forbid, they could actually be kids!

What's the phone number of the local Child Protective Service?

It can? Duckling has been running down the hill since I taught her to walk. I think she has fallen once.
I am still getting in trouble for that burn on her arm.
I was playing with my daughter when she was about 3. We were chasing each other around the room. She ran to the other side of her bed and I jumped across the bed. She said pull me up reaching her arms up. I grabbed her arms and pulled her up, pulling one of her elbows out of the socket. You should have seen the suspicious glares and extreme questioning I got from medical staff at the hospital.

Good can't seem to get the broodies to take the eggs though. Perhaps because they are almost white so I put some of the colors they like in the nest. We'll see this am.
How long have they been broody? Do they seem committed?
Try making the nests darker, perhaps with curtains. Try adding eggs after dusk.

Morning y'all. Did I show you our staff pics? At the coop. People tell me it looks small in pics.

Staff? What do you do?

campin they look like drowned rats too right now, dang woman. when is the rain stoppin?

:hit but I want a project tooooooo.

UGH THE RAIN WILL NEVER STOP. It rained today. It rained yesterday. The river is up and that Big Flood is pushing my way.

Drowned rats?? That was a DRY day! Three nights in a row I had to go out in the monsoon and carry them four at a time to the big coop, because I had locked the tractor and they didn't know where to sleep.

CC, I run a summer camp with my DH. We finished a week ago and it's retreat season now. We have almost 30 years of camp experience between us. He's the beard on the left. He's started backpacking and took the staff to Yellowstone last year.

Thank you.
My mother pulled my arm out of the socket just before I turned three. She was very pregnant, and could not reach me on the floor to tie my shoe. She grabbed my arm... I remember the doctor making her leave while he popped it back in. She was in trouble for a few other accidents I'd had. Seven kids means lots of hospital visits. I was an adventurous toddler though. And fragile. I was 19 pounds at Duckling's age. She is 40.
