I could offer the same thing. All you can eat and drink and all the work you need.

Actually, there are websites that link people willing to work with property owners. My favorite is Workaway

.

No. I can't set any more or they'll be too little to handle winter.

...
Why? Do you live above the Arctic circle?
These will hatch by the middle of September. That gives them plenty of time to be able to handle winter. I've had hens hatch chicks in November. October is my favorite time to raise chicks. They feather out better, they start laying eggs by April, cockerels don't suffer near the frostbitten combs that adult roosters do.

Lol, I'd love to but I want to hatch my own, and I want call babies
I am hoping that they still do a Halloween HAL, I would like to set for that
seriously!?!?!?!!! Sounds like a dangerous place to go

BYC people use any excuse for a HAL. I'm positive there will be one for Halloween.

Not bad as long as you stay out of Frederick after dark
What happens there?

This one stores a lot of food products from and for local businesses. Like Jasper products (silk/muscle milk) and Pillsbury.
..
Food storage. Another splendid idea.

@Akrnaf2 @ChickenCanoe Since you have smaller gene pools in Israel and your breed can either of you suggest a good resource for learning the ins and outs of breeding with limited numbers. I will only have a few HRIR so the next generations will have to be managed.
Thanks
Much of what I know about breeding comes from cocker forums and is mostly about line breeding to improve a breed. Sabong is a good one. I've learned a lot about breeding and caring for injured birds there.
You will only have a few but HRIR isn't a small gene pool so more genetic diversity is available to you. There are about 50 good breeders of RIRs in MO, some are rose comb but most are single comb.
http://agriculture.mo.gov/animals/pdf/poultry_yearbook.pdf
As for Black Penedesencas, there are only 2 of us in MO. Probably way less than 10 across the country and most don't specialize, meaning they have few birds of that breed/variety. Isaac Rude (in MO) doesn't have very many and some of his are from me. He's a nice guy but IMHO, he has too many species, breeds and varieties. He has turkeys, ducks, geese, guineas and about 10 or so breeds of chickens.
When you go through the yearbook, look for people that focus on a handful of breeds.

Here's some links for you.

@chaos I thought I'd share these links to follow up on how environment changes gene expression

Yes yes , I don't remmber that YOU ever ritten any respie in Hebrew or even in English!

Don't you worry. You're doing great. I speak a few languages but couldn't do a thing with your alphabet. I gave up on Russian because I couldn't handle the Cyrillic alphabet.

Thanks! I want some hens and a rooster for eggs then i want to eat extras, and always like broodys!
I think a lot of people keep them as DP flocks. Not a bad choice. What is your climate like. They handle heat OK but I'd prefer them in a cooler/cold climate.

Who said they were sultan x D'anvers?

I did.

She did, she said she had ees and sultan x, I am assuming she found out the other breed
But we know what assuming does

Yes, correct. They are sultan x d'anvers.

She said D'anver crosses. not sultan x

See Liz, no mention of sultan.

She just has a better memory than you!
When she first posted I thought she said sultan x, but maybe I am confused because she got some sultan hens
I dunno

I did say that.

Wendsday I had a chick pip and almost zip completely only to turn breech and die before I could get to it. Well today this one decided to pip on the side, I'm so scared to hatch another dead baby, does this look ok or not? I forgot to mark the air cell on day 18 because the other one was hatching.

Looks fine!

Quote: There's a whole 'nuther culture that comes to life in Frederick after dark. I got a glimpse of it when I ran newspapers there. Homeless vagrants hanging on street corners, drunks, girls working the streets, mostly near traffic lights where they have a captive audience when the lights turn red, an occasional shooting, stabbing, or robbery, plenty of drugs being sold and / or used, the usual riff-raf found in any city, I guess. I'm just insulated from it somewhat, living out away from it.

:sick reason numero 1128 why I am never again living in the city.

So it is a much more concentrated version of Chicago or St. L.
