Hey, Pen
Tried to get you an updated photo last night, but the batteries were "too weak to take pictures" They're rechargeable, so I cooked them overnight; still too low. So much for rechargeables! I've never had any luck trying to use them after recharging; I'll just buy regular Duracells from now on & save the extra $$.

Yea the office tried those rechargeable batteries for cameras they were always plugged in. Then we had to sign for the regular batteries.

:he Well, it looks like either Pingu or Rockhead needs to be gone by next week.... After growing up and getting along terrific for all of their lives, including that morning, both cockerels were bloody when I got home today.
Rocky is a white silkie, he had so much dried blood on him that his front looked almost like a partridge silkie. Pingu's head and neck was so red he looked like his throat was cut!

Teenagers.....
:hugs sorry

I am hungry for a bacon pretzel grilled cheese sammy and a pickle
do you have something you need to tell us?

What would be a good nesting box?

5g bucket is easy

pickle? Again?!
pickles are delicious!!!

I went out to check on the little baby with the bad foot... Mama had pushed her away again and she is pretty cold :(. Also was laying flat on its back. What do I do? I brought it inside and have it in my incubator since that's the warmest spot (no brooder ready as I wasn't prepared to have any inside). Is it time for electrolytes? It's still breathing, not moving around though. :(

Warm her up and give electrolytes asap

I currently have a duck in the oven. I have never eaten duck before, but I am certainly looking forward to this! :jumpy

Yummers!!!

Time to take a couple of dogs and bother some sheep, everyone have a great day! :frow
have fun!!

Howdy to all you lovers of everything feathered and furry! It's been awhile, so I thought I'd drop by to let everyone know that I'm alive and well. There's been a lot of real-life stuff going on in my house over the past couple of months, so I've been a bit preoccupied. Things have finally smoothed out, but I still have tons of stuff to do. It's been quite awhile since I incubated any eggs, but I peek in on the thread every chance I get. I know I won't be incubating any more until the spring, so I thought I'd give an update on the birds I'll be using for breeding. They're still young, and they will go through a lot of changes between now and breeding season, so it'll be awhile before I can start picking out who will be bred, who won't be bred, and who will be bred with whom. Some of you may remember, I have two families of HRIR. I see potential in many of these birds, and I'm hoping to get a trio from each side. Quads would be nice, but I can raise a lot of babies even if I only have two decent pairs. They look a little rough around the edges right now since they're in the middle of molting, and the cockerels have hit a growth spurt that's made them slender. This intense southern heat isn't helping much, but I know they'll grow into their new bodies pretty soon. I'm really looking forward to see how they look as adults...

Ur!! Hey there! :frow

I heard them during the night but I don't know how much rain we got. I'll check the gauge when the sun comes up.

I wouldn't worry too much about the wrong end/middle pip. The last couple I had hatched fine on their own.

Love some rare prime rib. :drool   I'm hungry now.

I never ate any of mine but they're supposed to be a fair meat bird. They were good layers with a tendency to be setters but one of mine never did.

I'm laughing with you.

No way to relocate the nest to an ant free zone?

I have no words either. It's better to just let it go.
Yes. I'm glad he didn't pick something weird.

I wouldn't count on a non broody to start setting just cause there are eggs in the nest.

How did they do?
I was watching the MLB instant replay team give the Cardinal game to the Mets. Met runner was clearly tagged out at third but he stepped on the glove catching it with his cleat and when Wainwright pulled his hand away the glove stayed on the bag under the foot. They called the runner safe.
The next batter struck out which would have ended the inning but instead, 4 more runs scored which is how much the Mets won by.

Yummy prime rib. That is something I need to learn how to cook correctly. I wonder if they know on the chef thread?
Good morning everyone.

I'd also like to learn how to cook it... Problem is, DH likes his well done, I like mine raw.
