Back at ya!
All of my family is in the restaurant business so they usually work holidays.
For most of my years at Ford, I worked all holidays.
The company shut down production for 4 days every Thanksgiving. Except skilled trades all worked. Sometimes the union would bring in Thanksgiving dinner for those working.
One year, my son went with a friend to Nebraska for Thanksgiving. My wife and daughter were going to the in-laws' house. I had to work. My job was running the power house that had to be manned 24/7 so there were 4 of us covering all shifts. Since I wasn't going to be able to spend the holiday with family I made a deal with my coworkers. They could stay home and I'd cover all their shifts and they could give me a day in return at our mutual convenience.
So I worked 32 hours straight on turkey day. Since there was no production going on, all I had to do was monitor systems. Incoming electric, natural gas, water, fire protection, compressed air, cooling towers, etc.. Not labor intensive.
