Quarantine is from the 17th century Italian word, quaranta - meaning 40 (40 days). That's the number of days people had to remain on ships at port before coming ashore.
If you can't do that, you have to keep them as far from your flock as possible for as long as possible.
IMHO, if one owns poultry, they need a minimum of two housing options for quarantine of new birds, sick and injured birds, bullies and/or broody hens.

Put it out in a chicken tractor or similar pen and bring it in at night. Do you have a garage or basement?

Looks mean nothing. That's the point of quarantine. If one could go by looks, there would be no reason for quarantine. If they looked unhealthy, one wouldn't acquire the birds in the first place.
