I candled the big eggs before I threw them out, there were empty. No signs of a developed chick at all.
So...I don't feel bad there. But this little tiny egg, was so promising at lock down. :(

Sorry :hugs

She was making that face because I told her not to grab the chickens and to just let them sit with her nicely... it's hard for her not to squeeeeeeee at them. LOL
well she is adorable

Do you guys notice that newborn chicks that hatch with you, are different then day old chicks you get from other people?

Our other chicks seem scared to be handled, but this newborn chick seems to really like being held by people. When she saw the other chicken for the first time, she liked it, but when our silkie runs from hands in the brooder, our hatched chick just walks over and is like "sup" lol

I find it varies by breed. My honas hate being handled regardless of age. But the EEs always love it.

Our batch of EE came from a hatchery. But they are handled so much by my daughter, they tolerate it pretty well.

I hatched mine from eggs from a breeder. And I hatch my honas. Even when they share a brooder, the EEs are friendly and the honas aren't.

@mlm Mike Re: comment on dog image: The black dog is mine, the brindle belongs to a neighbor. I missed your comment at first, sorry!
