Today is day 10 for one of my hatches and my super bright flash list died!!!!! Now i have to wait for the new one to get here in 3 days... or try to find one at the store.... what to do....

what flashlights do you all use that work well on Ameraucana eggs?

I was using my stun gun flash light it was super bright and the cover worked great for holding the eggs.

I think I may have scored this morning at Lowe's.
I'm cleaning one of my older coops and decided to paint the inside. All buildings I've built since then have interior walls painted.
I found a gallon of mistinted Olympic Maximum stain and sealant in one. It's supposed to provide protection for outside wood like fences, decks and siding for 6 years.
It is normally $37 a gallon and I got it for $9.
I'll use some today and if I like it, I'll go back for more. I could get 4 gallons for the price of one. There were about 6 gallons of it still there.
I usually use white but this is called 'Sierra' but it is chicken poop green.
great find!

WELCOME!!!!!

Speaking of mistakes - my wife was under the mistaken impression I was going to be working on the house when she saw the roller and wood sealant. She asked what I was painting. When I told her a chicken coop, she wasn't pleased.
I think I could see the steam pouring off of her.

Good morning/afternoon everybody! Sorry to everyone with sick or killed chickies. Also

to anybody in a funk today. Sucks to feel like that-I know it all too well. Nice to see so many people loving and supportive of one another. Finally decided I couldn't pull off the "Ombre" hair anymore and back to my Barbie blonde as a pick me up. Unfortunately, only the chickens are here to appreciate it cause I'm not back to work until probably Saturday and the husband is working afternoons. Oh and for petes sake NO MORE SUPER CUTE DUCK PICS!!! or I will end up on a spontaneous random road trip to PA (and end up with Saphires too-whatever they are..) Hope everyone has a fabulous day

Are you kidding me!!! I was "goal setting" yesterday and my husband was trying to motivate me & said he has a "surprise" planned for when I hit my goal... So I instantly reacted.. "A BARN!!!!???" He said no honey I was thinking more along the lines of a trip to someplace tropical. My heart actually sank a little

My wife would take the trip.
It is all about priorities.
We used to go on tropical or mountain vacations multiple times a year - when I had a job.
The last time I took the family anywhere other than in MO was to Costa Rica. Since then, the wife and kids have footed the bill for their own trips. Son has been to China, Thailand and Cambodia. Daughter has been all over Eastern and Western Europe, Laos, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Thailand, Mexico and Costa Rica. My wife met my daughter in Thailand for work with elephants and to island hop.
I've stayed home to garden and chicken sit.

I can't complain too much. I like what I'm doing and I did take a couple trips by myself to Mexico and Costa Rica.

Twas indeed. Why would she want anything in the house painted chicken poop green anyways?
I don't think she looked closely at the paint swab on the lid. Though she would be thrilled with any work I did on the house. Well, thrilled is a bit strong.

My freind, the bill will be served to you, it is just a matter of time

Oh, I've already been served.

Just a regular cheap LED however, green/blue/dark brown eggs are difficult to see into no matter what. You can see air pockets and dark masses.

So we can call your coop " Sierra Nevada " ?

Maybe I'll get a picture when it dries tomorrow. The outside is forest green and white with dark brown architectural shingles.
