I figured that would bring you out of hiding if you were still around

Glad everything's good with you. Folks all settled in now?

Not really, but at least they are out of Washington. A lot of their stuff is at my house filling the warehouse, AND a storage unit. They are supposed to be downsizing but shipped way too much here to NM. It's going to take forever to go through it all.

At least it will be easier here than long-distance though. Hope their house in WA sells soon.

Hey hey hey!

you have to be kidding!!! I am not THAT soft!! ha ha ha
Day 7 is tomorrow, but I saw veins the other day! This has been the slowest week evar.
LOL I thought it went pretty fast!

Quote: Great news!!! it all depends on your weather, your outdoor brooder has a heat lamp?

:D I was wondering about being a single parent. I'm going with yes.
The lack of someone to engage with turns the brain to mush. No stimulation equals death.
Having a little one further kills brain cells IMO. While your brain races for the answer to, "why is she crying?" "Why did she just do that?!" "How did she get that quarter up her nose?!" As well as making up conversations, you also don't have real thoughts and opinions to talk about.
ChickenCanoe mentioned a social life. Sexist, but I am going to say it. A man can't understand why a female would rather stay away from the social scene. Let alone a married man.

@ChickenCanoe Being social isn't an option for me.

I guess I'm doomed!

Hi! I like keeping my chicks inside a week or so to play with and watch for problems. As soon as I have to clean the brooder, they are kicked out. I can't recommend it for everyone, but mine have been without heat as low as 28* at three weeks this past year. I kept an ear open until midnight, and back out at six, but they never made a sound.
I like to keep mine inside for the first week or two also. They seem to integrate better if I can get them near the flock when they are babies and are usually running in and out of the brooder section mingling with the flock by 5 weeks.

The two polish mutts, a BCM roo the big guy and serama

Cute!

Quote: Thanks! Yes, we are "act first, think later" types, which is fun but stressful. So we bought the first two boys because the price was right and they had cute floppy ears. THEN we picked a breed. And we did the same with chickens, got five barnyard mixes and learned from there.

It's certainly a lively way to do things.

I can understand that. If it were me I'd sell the brothers while I had a buyer for both.
