Incubation Effort #28 Hatched

Day 21 5:45 pm 2 Delaware and 3 Welsummers have hatched. Two pipping and still more time to wait. Leaving them go through the weekend.

Day 22 6:48 am - Another Delaware has opened the top (zipped) and almost out. Two Welsummers and 1 Delaware have nice sized pips

In the Hatcher
7 Welsummers - 3 Hatched, 2 Big PIP, 1 Little PIP
5 Delawares - 3 Hatched, 1 Big PIP

I am very pleased! The bator and hatcher are both homemade based on the MissPrissy model.

Good hatch, Ed. Good luck on the one you just started, too.

My Incubator is doing fantastic. I made a slight adjustment after the test hatch in that I remounted the fan so it was blowing on an angle out over the light to hopefully circulate air better. I actually have 31 eggs in there right now. I have three thermostats and The farthest corner is 99 - 100 degrees and the closest to the heat source is 99 - 101. The other thing that I did (I think gopherboy did it) was put two tall jars of water in the bator to help stabilize the temps when it is opened. Working great.

Hatch #2 - 6 Buff Orpington eggs from Jodi and Charlie. Jodi also sent me 4 Aracauna eggs. They are 6 days ahead of yours.

Hatch#3 - Your eggs,. They went in the bator last night and amazingly, the temp only dropped to 97, even with adding 21 eggs.

I will post a different thread on each Hatch to track their progress.

Day 22 4:30 pm 8 have hatched and 0 pipping. Leaving the 4 unhatched in the Hatcher for at least another day or so. 4 of the Hatched chicks have been moved to the brooder.

This Hatch is done. I candled the 4 remaining eggs today and there was no movement in fact, they look like they had stopped before going in the Hatcher. Total Hatched 5 Welsummers and 3 Delaware.

9 Welsummer Eggs
5 Hatched
2 Did not Hatch
1 Gave up on Day #12
1 Gave up prior to Day #18

9 Delaware Eggs
3 Hatched (1 seems to have an issue with his feet)
2 Did not Hatch
1 Dropped on Day #2 (My Fault)
3 Gave up along the way prior to Day #18

Given that these eggs were layed during 3 Days and the Highs were 32 and this is my first Real Hatch, I am very pleased. I paid for 12 eggs and ended up with 8 Chicks. I am ok with that.

On to Hatch #2 (Due to Hatch MArch 7, 2009) and #3 (Due to Hatch March 13). I will post seperate threads for these.
