these..

all homemade.. I have 6 at the moment.. these just show the two types of thermostats that I'm using
I have spare parts on hand for both types of thermostats plus fans so I can make a quick fix if I need to (haven't had to so far except for bulbs).. I have heat elements that I can swap them over to once my stash of light bulbs is gone. The other nice thing about them is that I can stack trays of eggs (average size eggs like chicken, duck, goose and turkey) 5 levels deep, 60 eggs per level (300 eggs) .. more for smaller eggs like quail .. less for large eggs like the emu
And they are easy to clean and sterilize..

I hand turn eggs 5 times a day... so it keeps me busy.. lol

What temp should I have my incubator at for the hatchlings?

-Kathy
for??.....

If you mean to hatch out the muscovy.. at hatch I drop the temp by one degree

If you mean to use for the muscovy babies once they hatch out (first day brooder for fluffing).. 98 to 99 works fine.. if you see them huddle together then you know they are too cold.. if they are apart and panting or complaining then you know it's too high.. they will tell you what they need

other species have different requirements... so it can vary

In case any of you are interested, I'm about to start my next hatch experiment. I have a chocolate Muscovy that just started sitting and she has 13 or 14 eggs, I think, so I'll weigh and number all of them, put some in the incubator and keep records on both. Any suggestions/input would be appreciated!

Oh yeah! I am going to be following this for sure! Our Zippy is up to 10 eggs in her nest now, and I think she is starting to sit on them today. At least, she has been on the nest LONGER today than she has any other day....
