Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

When you clean her make sure it's warm water, you can bring her in the bathroom with you get some cotton balls, wet them and rub her all over do her eyes, don't need to to her beak or nostrils we took care of that earlier, rub her wings, belly, back all over, she doesn't need to be soaked, you have 15 minutes to get her done if you can't get her completely done in that amount of time don't worry about it just put her back we don't need her getting cold. Just do the best you can getting as much as you can, avoid the butt area.. Feet are probably not necessary.. Just any where that she has fluffy fur, or what's suppose to be fluffy fur. Most of it is probably flat and hard...

Hopefully with her out the others will wake up. Maybe number six will escape on his own. But with what we are dealing with he probably won't. We just need them to absorb as good as she did.

She is moving around so much that it is hard to get good photos! If the one of her "umbilical cord" (what is the real name for what I am calling that?) is not clear enough, let me know and I will take another. AND...she's opening her eyes!

I'm just curious if you guys know the difference between shrink wrap and sticky. I'm hoping that this is helping someone in some sort of way???

Anyone can do this. I'm not at all an expert or a know it all. The reason I'm able to help is because I have experimented with call duck for a couple of years. They are tough little cookies. Yes I have lost some but have also gained. I think that's why I have 24 of them now.

And here's something that may shock you all, I have never assisted any OTHER kind of duck. Calls are my only ones, the reason I was able to help with this one is because the concept of assisting them it's allll the same. There's nothing different from one duck breed to another when it comes to situations like this. I have had my share of shrink wrapped and sticky, unabsorbed and fully absorbed... Once you learn the concept, it gets pretty easy. The only issue after knowing it, is you start to get to antsy and mess up. That is why I'm giving this batch until the 38 days we could probably start sooner. The reason I say 38 days is because some sites say it takes 37 some say 35, I like to give them one day after the due date, your pretty safe at that time, and the one day is the 24 hours after making the safe hole, so they get 38 days... As you can see so far we have been right on the money. Both ducks were fully absorbed by the 38th day. The safe hole does help with that... Our only job is to help them to escape, we can't push the yolk in them to absorb they have to do that on there own but we can definitely take measures to help them.

So if you guys have questions and want to know why we did this or why we did that to help you.... FIRE AWAY...

Get yourself a piece of thread..

Right here there's a spot that is completely clear, it's towards the shell. Tie that spot with a piece is string then cut the cord at the empty space. Just like you would for a baby..

Shrink wrapped is when the membrane dries out on them and gets like leather. I've had one of those, the only time I had to assist, never have seen the sticky have heard of it though. So now do you let the cord break off on it's own or go ahead and snip? and I want to see it lil face with it's eyes open.
