Quote: I can't tell them apart either, but I've never had them.

This link has a nice write-up on them:

I liked him because he was the only one different from the rest, don't get me wrong they are alllll adorable he just had a special birth mark sort of speaking. Lol
i know,i agree. he has personality. He's trying to jump out already. The kids have C' names… Charlie, Clyde, Charlotte but he's going to be Chaos!

Thank you subhanalah, i think i have to agree.

In case any of you are interested, I'm about to start my next hatch experiment. I have a chocolate Muscovy that just started sitting and she has 13 or 14 eggs, I think, so I'll weigh and number all of them, put some in the incubator and keep records on both. Any suggestions/input would be appreciated!

Oh definitely!!

these..

all homemade.. I have 6 at the moment.. these just show the two types of thermostats that I'm using
I have spare parts on hand for both types of thermostats plus fans so I can make a quick fix if I need to (haven't had to so far except for bulbs).. I have heat elements that I can swap them over to once my stash of light bulbs is gone. The other nice thing about them is that I can stack trays of eggs (average size eggs like chicken, duck, goose and turkey) 5 levels deep, 60 eggs per level (300 eggs) .. more for smaller eggs like quail .. less for large eggs like the emu
And they are easy to clean and sterilize..

I hand turn eggs 5 times a day... so it keeps me busy.. lol
That is an awesome set up! What kind of eggs are those black ones?

How do you tell them apart? I googled photos for both, and I don't see a difference (maybe I am not looking at the right photos).

It's the size and growth rate.. the French Whites were bred to grow faster and get larger than normal muscovy.. so where a regular muscovy will get to around 14 to 16 pounds for the drakes.. the French Whites can get to 18- 20 for the drakes ..

There is a "saying" about the French Whites.. 12 pounds by 12 weeks of age (again.. that's for the drakes with hens being smaller)..

For hatch I dropped it by 1/2 a degree to 99 and last night I had it at 98, so I guess that was okay. A couple of them seem pretty weak, any suggesstion on what I should do for them?

I'm assuming you've offered them food and water by now.. so if it were me.. I would add some save-a-chick or other electrolyte/vitamins to their water for a few days and see how they respond

All have have access to food and water, plus I gave each a drop of vitamins and the sickest one, the one that hadn't opened it's eyes yet, got a very small drop of Baytril.
