Incubator fell - cracked shells Day 23 after 1 hatch

It’s horrible and I want so badly to open the shells and give them CPR or help them but I know that won’t work. I feel helpless to watch them.

You might want to read the article about assisted hatching:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/guide-to-assisted-hatching-for-all-poultry.72886/

It can help you recognize what stages the chicks are going through (like absorbing the yolk or pipping the shell).

You are right that in general leaving them alone is better, but if they do need assistance, the article can help you recognize when and how much to help.

That’s we will take out the baby that hatch and get it into the brooder. Turn the shower on and keep the bathroom humidity up and see what we find. They were looking ready with little to no veins earlier and one may have wiggled since 930am. I’ll update you. :( Hopefully good news. I’m wondering from the trauma at 4am if they’re resting and plan to make a break for it soon on their own.

Unless they’re just exhausted and resting I do not see any movement. The membrane does not look punctured however the small hatchling is out and humidity is high and 99.7 degrees. The little survivor Crash has been moved to the brooder and I picked up 3 - 3 day old chicks. They’re separated for now, maybe they’ll meet each other Monday. Crash really is up and moving around and wants to go in with the older chicks. Lots of peeping :(

Is there a reason to keep them apart? Those ages are close enough you could probably just put them all together now (watch for a few minutes to be sure Crash doesn't get trampled, but with the others only 3 days older that is not very likely.)

Yes I keep them apart until Crash could stand and walk a little stronger at least. Slow recovery from the nightly event. Crash is just now 12 hours old at 4pm.
