Incubator is awesome, besides all the criticism.

Braclin ... Go to a smaller light lamp w/60 watt bulb. I had a large one (not bulb) like you before my eggs arrived & my temps were running 102+. When I went smaller, it changed everything. You can also back the light off some to see how that works. Also, at Walmart for $1, buy a non-digital thermometer. It reads (for me) so much better but keep on using both, especially for the humidity.

Try this & let me know.

Its true.Get a smaller reflector with a 60 watt bulb.It will change everything.I have mine on lock-down.

I have more quail hatching this week.

The other thing I'm worried about is your glass top not fitting snug. I'm using a piece of plexiglass that has some gaps. I'm now in lock down & started having issues. A little tape on the corners is working and the advice from another here on BYC about a wet paper towel BUT with that much gap, you might want to cut it to size. What ya think Gabriel?

JulieZ,

I have no problem.I have a gap for my fan cord, but my humidity stays around 75%.I do have duct tape around the sides of the top glass, but the top of the aquarium is pretty flat due to factory machining.I have no problems whatsoever.

Ok, I switched out the reflector for a smaller one and bought a regular thermometer and moved the incubator into another room. I ran it all night. the digital thermometer says 99 deg/70 humidity and so does the reg. thermometer. So fingers crossed the kinks are finally worked out.

I bet it would work. Use an even smaller reflector light & maybe a 40 watt bulb ?? I'm trial running a 15 gallon one right now but a 60 watt will not keep the temps up like it will in my 10 gallon.

Keep us updated on how things go. Right now I'm on day 2 of lock down & my temps are steady at 100 with humidity at 70-75. I ended up adding some tape around some corners because my humidity kept dropping but no big deal. Keep it in mind "just in case".

Try a 75 watt bulb.
