Incubator or not?

Nice looking flock.

I'm more into Turkey's than anything. Looks like you have some bronze and a bourbon red or bourbon buff.

Do you hatch those as well
Hatched the bourbon red,my first attempt at turkeys, had 4 eggs, one hatched. The bronze was recently rehomed because I only have one hen. She's a black. Hopefully she'll set a clutch or two but if not, I'll keep trying to hatch till I get it right.:fl

We have several big dogs and little dogs, a bunch of cats...we live in the woods and don't even see the occasional squirrel..lol
None of my dogs or cats bother chickens or chicks, and run anything else that shows up, off.
We have a few patches of green here and there in the summer but not much. Heck, even the pony has learned to brows with the goats..lol

We have tons of hawks here!

It sounds promising and scary at the same time. I'll get it eventually though, it will just take time. Just another new endeavor I have to try. I just hope I can get the wife on board, because I work constantly come spring, plus I have to fix up the house too.
higher yields/synchronicity/accuracy if incubated properly. Controlled environments are always more successful for large quantities. You control the date, conditions and environment.. personal experience speaking.;)

  • Turn the eggs at least 3 times a day.
  • Control heat & air moisture accurately.
  • Candle accordingly.

Quail chicks are so tiny and funny and cute! I don't think it would take much to make her fall in love with them. :D Even my hubby has to admit they are cute and he is not a bird person! I see him sneaking a look when we have chicks.
