Incubator: What's more important? Fan kit or egg turner? :)

i myself am looking for a new incubator,i have an OLD hova bator still air incubator from prob the 80's. I seem to have alot of problems with it. It took 4 days to reach temp then held for 2 weeks then crept up to 114 deg. I cant take it, i am going to get a new one. I am looking to spent no more than $140 But i would like the bells and whistles. Does anyone have the Little Giant or the Farm inovators Professional Circulated Air Incubator with Egg Turner - 4200? I see the farm inov with everything for about $137. Any info would be greatly appriciated, thank you

I have an LG, but according to SOME others they are "junk" LOL. I guess it depends on your experiences. If you research different bators you'll find multiple answers and responses. Some swear by the Hova Bator, or the LG, or the Brinsea, and so on.. I guess What it boils down to is how much you want to spend on one. I started off with an LG b/c it was inexpensive and I was unsure what my outcome of incubating eggs was going to be. (like whether it was going to be a one time thing or if I was going to make a hobby out of it) I am EGGdicted now, haha, so after a few more hatches and uses of my ' inexpensive junky Little Giant' I may invest in a better one. But for now it's doing the trick. I do agree with the fan, although I don't have one, I read it helps with temp fluctuations, which I do have...over night when the temp drops outside, but again..that's common with an incubator without a fan to circulate.

I bought the Hovabator 1607N with a fan kit installed, an egg turner and a temp/humidity monitor for $119 from Incubator warehouse. If you want to install the fan kit yourself it's $10 cheaper. My first hatch I had 13 out of 16 hatch.

A fan is more important than a turner. A fans main purpose is to move air and keep temps steady. You can turn eggs 3 times a day by hand so a turner is not important. 'Without a fan you will have to raise temp 2 degrees to adjust for cold spots in the incubator. Installing a fan is very easy.

X-2 on that.The turner keeps you from forgeting to turn eggs. An allows you to get away for a day or 2 or3.Fan distributes heat evenly like fishman said.Like fallin off log ...cva34

i would say turner

as you can incubate in still air just fine

but turning is far more important

and waterfowl do better in still air

I think I want incubator warehouse's. I have actually been looking at those lol which is funny that you suggested the same thing. I think I may get the fan installed, I'm bad with stuff like that.
