Is there any way to build an incubator?? the ones I see on the market are really expensive, and my hens just WON'T take care of the eggs! terrible mothers, lol. I've heard of people using little plastic tubs or glass tanks of some sort and a heat lamp and thermometer. Do homemade ones work?

Saddina is hatching right now with a cabinet bator her hubby built her from a couple of lightbulbs and a water heater thermostat.

cool! does anyone have any pics or plans? I have a thermometer, tanks, wood, etc... what could I do with that?

Here on BYC Forum go to incubating & hatching. You will see at the top homemade incubator contest. Read through postings. There are links & instructions. Good luck.

It was a wine cabinet, but it was too shallow to fit the bottles we use. Inside he mounted: 2 40 watt lightbulbs, a hotwired computer fan, a water heater thermostat. You use a digital thermomoter to calabrate your water heater thermostat to 100 degrees (takes a day or two of messing with it). I think it cost about $20 to modify the cabinet. The shelves are baskets I found at the 99 cent store that closest fit in the space, and are laying on the wine brackets.

You can check out my BYC page to look at my homemade bator. There is a bunch of different styles on the bator contest page. I might use some of there ideas for the next one I build.
