You mean she didn't maul you for taking her picture? Lol. They're looking great!
No I was on the other side of the fence.... when I sit in the chair in her run she gathers the babies under her and hissssssss at me then glares at me tI'll I leave... last night I took my phone and was sitting with her reading byc till my kids, melted down cuz I was lost ( they are 13, 15 and 16 the kids that is)

DS's spitzes have all hatched. The last one had a little membrane stuck on the head, so it had an adorable mohawk. (They do get crests around 2 weeks old, but this was just a little bonus cuteness.)

.... and here's Smudge, the "happy" mama:

Who doesn't love the broody stink eye?

Along with DS's spitzes, we hatched a few Easter-orps.

DD's silkie started laying again after being broody. She happened to be with DD's bantam cockerel (who had just discovered the joys of mating).
We slipped the egg into the incubator & here's what we got:
:love

Can't wait to see how she/he looks all dried & fluffy. Has the black skin & 5 toes like the mama.

It's an unexpected color, b/c both parents are light.
Mom: splash silkie

Dad: light colored silkied serama

Couldn't resist holding the little silkie-serama mix. She's so tiny & looks mostly silkie - including the 5 toes!

The fluff color is a nice shade of red-auburn but looked blackish at hatch due to the black skin. The beak is brown. There's no dome-head but I'm not sure on the cheeks.

I wanted to get a pic of a chick inside a tea cup.... but this little chick is too tiny for the smallest cup I could find. Instead I held her on a teaspoon in front of the cup. (If at the same distance, you'd see that she's less than 1/2 the size of the cup!)

I already have someone interested in her - before hatch. Now I'm seriously tempted to put some of my silkie's eggs (currently in the fridge) into the incubator. She stopped laying about 5-6 days ago - trying to go broody.

So my first test run in the Brinsea Mini was a huge success. I set 12 OEGB eggs and 11 developed. 9 hatched. The 2 quit within the last 2 days, one was malpositioned, head between legs.

And @Auroradream26 I got some new pics of my silly CL boy. I just love this rooster. He runs when I enter the pen, but if I stay, he eventually comes to me. He needs a name!!

He is a great looking guy! I'm so proud of the way he turned out! We need to brainstorm for a good name...

My name is Jessie and I am a recent addict. This is hatch 3 for me...in one month LOL! AND I already have my next 3 hatches planned! I am building 2 new coops as we speak! The good news is I am getting my breeding stock squared away and already have pre orders for chicks for spring so I hope to manage my addiction by hatching rare chicks like Svart Hona and Ayam Cemani as people ALWAYS want to buy them! I just have a little Giant incubator right now but plan on getting a cabinet one next month. The one thing I do know is unless I need somebody for breeding stock ASAP I will never buy a chick again! I LOVE hatching and I have such a strong bond with my hatched chickens that I don't with the first ones I got at TSC. I tell everyone that I was suffering from empty nest syndrome so I went and got myself an actual nest! LOL My name is Jessie and I am a hatchaholic! *current chicks are EE's and BCM and set eggs are Ayam Cemani, EE's, BCM, Black Austrolorp and RIR/Isa Brown egg producers from my own breeding flock. (they lay like you would NOT believe!)

Welcome Jessie! Cute chicks!

And I’m with you, I still look into the bins at the farm stores, but have no desire to ever buy them again. :)

Welcome to the group! Sounds to me like you need to be here for all the enabling support we can provide!

My name is Jess and I've gone almost a month without hatching anything. Unfortunately, I need a silkie roo that is less related to the rest of my girls so I'm paying my with to girls from another line. I'm order to have babies for spring, I need to hatch a roo now! That, and a friend asked me to hatch some eggs for him....Sooo, the incubators will be hunting again by next weekend

Welcome Jessie! Cute chicks!

I look at the time too but my chicks are so much better . Impress they have polish, I'm not interested in buying.
