Incubators Anonymous

Pics
This is my first attempt at hatching and I have 28 turkey eggs in bator after first 24-30 hours temp evened out so I have convinced my self that I don't need to be there checking every 1-2 hours was attempting dry incubation rh in basement is in the low to mid 30's which is perfect but when bator came up to temp rh dropped to less than 10 so I added water and it came up to 30's again. When I checked air cells not on all but 5 from all over rack they seem small so I'm letting it dry for 2 days to see if they grow a bit by Thursday will add water tonight Thursday is day 15 hope I am thinking right on this. Could not see much on day 10 but eggs did seem a little darker inside than before start.

Good luck with your hatch! I've never tried Turkey eggs so, I can't advise on humidity or air cell size. But it sounds like you know what you are doing!

Good luck on your hatch! I usually keep my humidity at 25-30% for the incubation and then raise it up to 65% at lockdown. Usually works extremely well. I'm not one to track air cells at all though so I can't tell you how they should look. I just mark them at lockdown so I know which way to lay them in the hatcher lol

I used this graph I found. Will try to get some pics Thursday when I check again.

I am thinking I might be an addicted again. I thought the "new" incubator would mean I will never have an incubation problem.

I was wrong. I finished setting my all my eggs tonight, including the ones I gathered today. because a few turkeys decided to sit on the eggs and acted broody...I think.

If you consider, puffing up, hissing, biting, refusing to move off the nest, hitting me with their wings and chasing me broody. I am leaning towards thinking broody..

I did not want the eggs to get cold and sit for a few days if they were truly under a broody hen.

Anuyways after adding all the eggs I had ready to hatch, today and yesterday, I have only 76 empty spots in both incubators, not including the 60+ eggs I have in the hatchers...

Oh and I have some cute babies tonight!! EE and SS!!

Was it YOU who told ME that I needed help? (Seriously, I can't remember if that was you who told me that or not lol. YOU are going to need some serious brooder space lol.

BTW, have you candled any of the Adam eggs yet?

I have not candled them yet. I will in the next couple days. I had the incubators open way too long for one day. They do not hatch until the 17th or 18th so it would be iffy still for me to see anything.

You did say the Creamettes are developing right?

Yep, last I looked anyway. I think 7 looked good.

You'll have to let me know how they're doing when you do look.
