I wish I knew what I was going to do with all these birds......


BUT I just hatched 25 out of 28 that went in the Hatcher and 2 of those 28 should not have went in the hatcher. It is kind of like giving a AA member a beer when you get results like that!

I am a incubating addict. I have 3 trays full of eggs to go in tonight. I am weak, I cannot resist. In addition the the 3 trays I have an egg carton partially full. I think I have 125-130 eggs. They are calling me.

I have well over 40 eggs sitting on my counter and there will be a LOT more by Friday which is my set day every week. Problem is, I have no clue if I can fit them all in the bator! I upgrade from a styrobator to a cabinet this year and I STILL run out of room!

You should be able to candle and throw out the bad ones.

I showed amazing restraint tonight. I only set 85 eggs! I kept back 42 turkey eggs. I candled the ones in the incubator and saw no development. BUT they have only been in a week. I will keep them for another week and candle again. If nothing I will eat these..

I have toms in with 7 hens now so I will start saving those eggs and marking them so I can set them next week regardless of whether the ones in the incubator develop or not.


BTW I have eggs on all three racks now for the first time!

That is very true. I will candle on Friday when I go to set them. I have 2 trays that are full with the exception of MAYBE 10 spots. I just moved 32 turkey eggs to lockdown this evening. Since they are rather big, they were really spaced out on my 3rd rack so I now have a lot more room. I think I'll have enough room to set them all down there now lol

How do you all keep track of all your hatches? I keep a notebook, hard copy with my details for each hatch and i use the hatch a batch app. I have so many staggered hatches going at a time that I'd never be able to keep it straight without the extra help lol.

I use index cards, a calendar and I write on each egg the hatch date.
