So, I appreciate the tips on testing hygrometers and such, but nobody answered if they think there is something wrong with my new Genesis.

Does that mean that as long as I trust my thermometers, it should be safe to use it?

Sorry I have no idea how reliable your Genesis will be. That model does have many favorable reviews so if you trust the accuracy of your thermometers and have made the adjustments to get the temperature where you want it, you should be okay. If possible I would do a test run with eggs that are not quite as precious to you.

The enabler part of me thinks you should get a cabinet incubator.

If you trust your thermometers, you sound be ok. My GQF cabinet and hova bator don't have built in thermometers so I have to trust my own but I love their reliability and wouldn't trade them for the world.

Ok, thanks! The reviews I read by BYC people I trust were the reason I chose this model. :) Using these thermometers got my last group almost all hatching on their due date. I'll test the new Genesis with some of my own eggs, and not Ralphie's. The reason I ordered a new incy was cuz I was worried about Ralphie's eggs in my Stealthbator. But I've been pleased with the consistent temps and humidity in there, so I will just leave Ralphie's eggs in there until lockdown.

Ha ha, R2elk! Everyone should have a cabinet, right? I'll just keep my eye on Craigslist. ;)

Yes, I believe it is. If you are CONFIDENT in your thermometers, then adjust the incubator until the inside thermometers match the temp you want. Ignore what the Genesis thermometer says. The Genesis heater will stay at whatever temp you set it. It doesn't know you want a true temp of 99, so if IT is set at 101, and your calibrated ones say 99, then you are good.

Is that what you are asking?

Yes, thank you. I think I just wanted reassurance that my machine is not messed up.

Just fired up the cabinet today.

Setting 60 chicken eggs tommorow. Set 10 turkey eggs in a small incubator today. Checking for fertility.

Was on Craigslist debating on this incubator that just posted.

400

Says it holds 1500 to 2000 eggs. I would be in so much trouble I'd I get this.

But am considering it.
